New Features in Release 10.2 (July 25, 2010)

This release introduces improvements to the product search engine, including enhanced matching capabilities, filter options, and a new "Best Match" hierarchy. Users can now filter search results by manufacturer name and select multiple filter criteria. The relevancy of returned items has been improved, and irrelevant items have been significantly reduced.

Product Search Engine Improvements for hosted catalogs • The search engine improvements allow: • Better match the shopper’s expectations • More closely relate to the terms entered in product search : Simple Search and Advanced Search (Shop at the Top). • Note: • No changes were made to: • Product views • Supplier, category and product flags/preferences

Product Search Engine Improvements for hosted catalogs • Part Number Searches (also known as SKU or Catalog number):  • Exact match has been enhanced to better prioritize search results. • Simple Search now returns similar results to searches performed in the Part Number (SKU) field in Advanced Search. • A begins with partial part number match returns closest matching results. • All part number string components must be present for the item to be returned. • Keyword Searches: • Singular/plural entries return similar results. • Searches containing special characters, such as hyphens, spaces, etc., return similar results. • Differing UOM/Product Size syntax entries return similar results. • Misspelled search entries return more relevant results. • Relevancy of returned items: • Irrelevant items in search results have been significantly reduced. • The Include Similar Terms option is no longer required.

Product Search Engine Improvements for hosted catalogs • “Best Match” Hierarchy: (aka: Weight or Score) • (Plurals are factored into all searches and are not differentiated) • Exact match on Part Number - allowing for hyphens and spaces       • Exact match on Description               • Exact match on Keyword, Supplier, Manufacturer, Category and Packaging     • Partial match on Part Number     • Flexible match on Description   • Flexible match on Keyword, Supplier, Manufacturer, Category and Packaging • Reminder: All configured priorities, like CCA and supplier preferences, are used to sort results with equal “Best Match” scores. • Note:The Hierarchy above is a general description of how "best match" search results are returned. There are other factors that may affect the order of "best match" search results (i.e. phrasing, word similarity, product size, unit of measure, the number of matches within a search string, etc.)

  7. Additional Product Search Filter (Manufacturer Name) hosted catalogs • Shoppers can now also filter product search results by Manufacturer Name.

Filter on Multiple Values in Product Search Results hosted catalogs • Shoppers can now select multiple filter values within Filter Results on the Product Search Results page. • SelectSite Locations: • Product Search Results > Filter Results > filter icon • = Allows the user to select multiple filter criteria • = Allows the user to remove the selected filter criteria
