  4. London/ Paris around 1000 AD • London- houses half timbered • Very unsanitary • Paris- important royal capital and cultural center • Notre Dame

  5. Interview with Holy Roman Emperor in 1000AD • Came to power when he was 13 • Hoped to recreate glory of older Roman empire • Make the pope subordinate

  6. Intevierw with leif Ericsson • Son of Eric the Red • 1002 sails west and discovers several new lands • May have landed in either Canada or New England area
