  3. Mission Site • The mission site is an inland mission, Santa Ines was established near a Rancheria, Alajulspu , in the Santa Ines valley , and sits on its original site. It is on the eastern edge of Solvang founded by a group of Danish people in 1911

  4. When Mission was Built (Founded) The mission Santa Ines was built on September 17,1804 Nineteen in the chain of 21 costal Establishment in the state.

  5. Father Juniper Serra • Father Serra was born November 24,1713 he is a founder of a mission. his real name is Miguel but they changed it to father Serra once he became a priest and to go travel for his job.

  6. Founder of Mission • The founder of my mission which is Santa Ines is Father Estaven Tapis. He was elected for father president 3 times and was in the office 1803-1812.

  8. Agriculture and Livestock • Santa Ines had a large and relatively stable livestock herd. In 1832 the mission had 9460 animals Including 7000 cattle and 2000 sheep.

  9. Indians joining the mission The mission is in the land of the Chumash and was instantly populated by neo- phytes from mission Santa Barbara and La Purisima.the neophytes at Santa Ines were preferred to Inezeno after the mission

  10. Population • The mission was established late in the mission era and only operated for thirty years. There were only a few natives in the Area. The highest population for the Mission was 786 in 1875.

  11. Significant Events • The largest Indian uprising in the mission era began at Santa Ines in 1824 triggered by the excessive beating of a neophyte by a soldier.

  12. Current Use of the Mission • The mission Santa Ines is an active Catholic church. It has a museum and a gift shop for All available visitors
