Hello! Our experience at the Southwest Airlines DCA Terminal was extremely positive. Although Terminal 1 is small and older than other terminals, it has a warm and streamlined atmosphere. Having check-in counters close to security and gates reduced walking and enabled faster transitions, which was highly convenient. Although Terminal 1 is small and older than other terminals, it has a warm and streamlined atmosphere. Having check-in counters close to security and gates reduced walking and enabled faster transitions, which was highly convenient. Friendliness and professionalism of the staff made a great difference, as they were available and helpful at every step of the process. Although it is an older terminal, it was warm and welcoming and made for an easy, enjoyable travel experience. We departed with a pleasant experience and definitely cannot wait to fly Southwest again! Planning the Trip It all started when we decided to visit family in Chicago. Arrival at the Airport On the day of our flight, we arrived at approximately two hours before departure. Terminal 1, where Southwest Airlines operates, is the airport's original terminal, showcasing a distinct architectural style. While some travelers have noted that Terminal 1 is smaller compared to the newer Terminal 2, we found it to be efficient and easy to navigate.
