  2. Introduction Falling Prices of Traditional Exports Promotion of Non Traditional Exports Increased Production Marketing Project Inception

  3. The Goal Ultimate goal: • To enhance the marketing capacity of small and medium scale non-traditional export producers through the provision of web based information services

  4. How do we achieve this? • Personalised websites • Market price information • Local (databases) • International (including sub-region) • Linkage to potential importers /organisations • Information on export procedures, etc.

  5. Project Activities • Official commencement • Sensitization meetings • Local leaders • Traditional authorities • Local government, etc • Training • Project staff • Producers/Traders

  6. Achievement • Computers for the districts • Producers / Traders trained • Website created (www.mofa.gov.gh/ecomm/index.htm) • Market price databases at districts • Formation of groups • Incentive to work (an interesting phenomenon)

  7. Challenges/ Problems • Connectivity • More PCs for the two districts • Funding for expansion

  8. Way Forward • Move deeper towards e-commerce • Identify stakeholders in export chain • Specialized training for project team • Develop relevant e-commerce applications • Increase no. of districts • Develop the trade points concept
