  3. A healthy church characterized by members who serve others • How did the Lord say His followers would be known? • They would serve, not be served – Luke 22:24-27 • Judged by how we have served others – Matthew 25:35,36,40

  4. A healthy church characterized by members who serve others • What are some ways we can serve one another? • John 13:3-5, 13-15 – Why did Jesus was the disciple’s feet? • Can we keep reaching out to those who are struggling? Romans 12:10 • Consider the work of Barnabas – Acts 4:36; 9:27; 11:22

A healthy church characterized by a mutual love & Respect • Every church Paul wrote to commanded to “love one another” Rom. 12:10; 1Cor. 14:1; Gal. 5:13; Eph. 4:2; Col. 2:2; 1Thes. 3:12; Heb. 10:24 • No differences considered “small” – Philippians 4:2 • How are things knit together? Colossians 2:1,2 • How much is enough? 1 Thessalonians 3:12

  6. A healthy church characterized by a mutual love & Respect • Comes because brethren have worked hard at it! • Can be lost – Hebrews 12:15 • First step – stop idle & vicious talk – even if only in the home – it will bear an ugly fruit • John 13:34,35

  7. Four things which can destroy unity: • Lack of respect between educated & less educated • May be a lack of knowledge of the Bible • Socio- economic differences – James 2:1-4 • Racial differences – Jews/Gentile • Differences in judgment

  8. How can two sincere men work out differences? • Must be willing to yield – James 3:17 • Key is submission to one another – Ephesians 5:21 • Patience & love shown in differences- Romans 14:1,5, 15 • Not all differences within scope of this chapter

  9. How can two sincere men work out differences? • There is a difference between individual & collective matters • God’s truth can be known – 1 Corinthians 1:10 • Some people harder to be around than others • Remember – this is one for who Christ died – 1 Corinthians 8:11,12

  10. Is there any person who is a part of this church that I do not love as I ought? • If so – repent! • If one has offended you, work it out! – 1Peter 1:22 • Every member of this church ought to know they are in the midst of people who care about them!

  11. A Health church is characterized by spiritual growth on the part of every person • Everyone has weaknesses & the need for growth • 1 John 1:7-9 • Weaknesses not a matter of indifference! • IF we are alive in Christ, we must grow – Philippians 3:13,14; 2 Peter 3:18

  12. How does this church stand before the lord? • Improve as individual Christians – 2 Corinthians 13:5
