  3. What Is NAYLE? National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience NAYLE is an exciting, week-long training program designed to enhance NYLT leadership skills NAYLE is an exciting, weeklong training program designed to enhance NYLT leadership skills. NAYLE will provide youth with a Philmont-based wilderness encounter that motivates them to follow a life of helping others succeed based on the values expressed in the Scout Oath and Law.

  4. What Do I Learn at NAYLE? You will learn to: • Encourage others to a life of leadership service. • Act as a servant leader who shares the skills of NYLT and helps develop other leaders through your enhanced understanding of the material. • Intuitively use the NYLT leadership skills in all aspects of your life. • Be an advocate for Unit Leadership Training and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) in your local council. • Use your leadership skills and abilities to help others be successful.

What Can I Expect? • A backcountry experience based at Philmont’s Rocky Mountain Scout Camp • Challenging but fun backcountry activities • An experience that will enable you to build upon the legacy of Waite Phillips, the man who gave us Philmont • Learning to live a life of servant leadership Primus inter pares—First among equals.

  6. The Modules The seven exciting NAYLE modules are designed to practice NYLT skills in a realistic and challenging setting. • Project COPE • Wilderness First Aid • GPS and Geocaching • Search and Rescue • Leave No Trace • Conservation • Philmont History And there is so much more!

  19. Am I Ready? To attend NAYLE, you must: • Be 14, but not yet 21; Boy Scouts, Varsity, Venturing • Hold a unit leadership position • Have completed NYLT, a NYLT to NAYLE bridge course for Venturers will be available soon. • Successfully complete a Philmont Level A physical (meet the Philmont backcountry height/weight requirement) NAYLE is not just for NYLT staff! Unit leaders, OA members, and camp staff will all benefit.

  20. Where and When In 2009? • NAYLE is held at Philmont’s Rocky Mountain Scout Camp (under the Tooth of Time). • June 13-19 • June 20-26 • June 27-July 3 • July 4-10 • July 11-17 • July 18-24 • July 25-31 • Aug 1- Aug 7 Apply at www.nayle.org.
