Q/M-Bit GCT Task

Q/M-Bit GCT Task. The tasks of the muon system: - Receive from RCT 252+252 Q+M = 504 Bits. - Each of the 18 RCT crate transmits 28 Q+M bits (18x28=504). - Hence, the Q/M bits are - segmented as the come to GCT.

  1. Q/M-Bit GCT Task • The tasks of the muon system: - Receive from RCT 252+252 Q+M = 504 Bits. - Each of the 18 RCT crate transmits 28 Q+M bits (18x28=504). - Hence, the Q/M bits are -segmented as the come to GCT. - The Q/M bits need to be transmitted to GMT -segmented. - All 504 bits are transmitted to GMT  No data reduction - The data are transmitted to GMT via 12 cables. - All other physics triggers require 6+1 cables. - The cable specification was inherited by the new GCT along with the task requirement. 2. The ‘Muon System’ The Muon system: • 3 Processing Cards (3 SNAP12, V5, Cross-Point Switch, MicroController. • Custom uTCA backplane (2 more Cross-Point Switches) and uTCA crate. • 3 More Cards which convert to the Infiniband protocols (now under further review) • 12 Infiniband cables connect with GMT Optical Input from the Source Cards 12 Infiniband Cables to GT 3 Processing Cards Link Converters (Infiniband) This Subject of today’s review uTCA Backplane GCT Q-M EDR, CERN, 2/10/07 C. 3. GCT: Current State of Affaires • The Electron Trigger has been commissioned and M. Hansen and A. Tapper are in the process of removing the last differences between firmware and emulator. • The Jet trigger is proceeding in a satisfactory way. The new Wheel Card seems to work and communications and data transfers have been established from a Jet Leaf via the Wheel and all the way to the Concentrator Card (G. Sidiropoulos). It seems at the moment realistic to install the Jets Trigger also by November 07. Several Months of data validation will follow (A. Taper, G. Iles, G. Sidiropoulos, M. Hansen) but it should go faser then the electrons since the Jets are moving into a system that debugged and working. • Source Card Links: In the process of changing to 100 Mhz oscillators (M Stettler). • GCT to GT Links: Studies continue (G. Iles) • It appears that M. Stettler, who is back at CERN in Feb. 08, be free to concentrate his efforts to the ‘Muon System’ GCT Q-M EDR, CERN, 2/10/07 C. Foudas - Imperial 3

  4. Preliminary Plan • Processor Card should go out at the end of 07 and be back sometime in March 08. • The Backplane should be out to the manufacturer sometime in late Spring 08 • We should have Backplane and Processor Cards in Summer 08. • The Links to GMT remain an unknown but that should be rectified in a few months. • Need to produce a resource loaded plan by the end of the year GCT Q-M EDR, CERN, 2/10/07 C.
