  16. A career with Accenture • Life as an Analyst – Work and Lifestyle Q: What does Accenture do? A: Accenture design, build, test, deploy and maintain large scale computer software systems. (Coding, PM, Testing, Data analysis, etc) Q: How much to I get paid? A: €31,000 + benefits Q: What are the hours like? A: Depends on project...but you do get paid overtime. I’m 9 - 5.30pm! Q: Are there opportunities to travel? A: Yes – mainly in the UK, but roles further afield are possible. Q: Is there any craic? A: Yes - Plenty of social nights. - Clubs and societies (Golf, rugby, photography, surfing, football, etc) - Project events (Tag rugby, karting, bowling, virtual golf, etc)

Accenture Academic Innovation in Computing Award • The Accenture Academic Innovation in Computing Award seeks to recognise, reward and encourage excellence in the area of innovation. • Open to all IT/Computer Science final year or postgraduate students in Ireland, the award provides students the opportunity to submit their final year/masters college projects for the chance to demonstrate their project to the Accenture Leadership Panel and be in with a chance to win a cash prize of €2000. • All submitted projects for the award are assessed by the Accenture project review board resulting in five finalist projects being chosen for the final round demonstration. This demonstration is a chance for students to present the innovative aspect of their project and gain exposure and feedback around their submission.

Accenture Academic Innovation in Computing Award • Projects are submitted by 7th May 2011 • Keep an eye out for our emails and posters next March/April 2011 • 2010 winner Conor Higgins from University of Limerick whose project was about, “The Use of Surface Electromyography to Create and Control Audiovisual Content”. • The other shortlisted finalists from 2009 included students from UCC, Queens and Trinity College Dublin who all demonstrated to our leadership panel the latest ideas and technologies being used on campus. • For further details please visit www.accenture.com/innovationaward
