Student Risk Screening Scale(Drummond, 1994) • The SRSS is a 7-item screener used to identify students who are at risk for antisocial behavior • Uses a 4-point Likert Scale • 0=Never • 1=Occasionally • 2=Sometimes • 3=Frequently • Teachers evaluate each student on the following items • Steal • Lie, cheat, sneak • Behavior problems • Peer rejection • Low academic achievement • Negative attitude • Aggressive behavior • Student Risk is divided into 3 categories • Low = 0 – 3 Moderate = 4 – 8 High = 9 - 21

Student Internalizing Behavior Screening Scale (Cook, 2008) • The SIBSS is a 7-item screener used to identify students who are at risk for internalizing behavior • Uses a 4-point Likert Scale • 0=Never • 1=Occasionally • 2=Sometimes • 3=Frequently • Teachers evaluate each student on the following items • Nervous or Fearful • Bullied by Peers • Spends Time Alone • Low Academic Achievement • Withdrawn • Seems Sad or Unhappy • Complains About Being Sick or Hurt • Student Risk is divided into 3 categories • Low = 0 – 3 Moderate = 4 – 8 High = 9 - 21

  5. How do we administer the SRSS and SIBSS? • Submit a form for every student that has been in your class for more than 30 days. • Please remember: • Teachers should independently screen students on the lists. • Teachers should not discuss students with each other while screening.

  7. 2. Rate each student on each item using the scale. Higher numbers indicate greater concern. For example, for the item ‘Steals’ from the SRSS, one would put down a ‘1’ if a particular student has only been caught stealing on a single occasion; therefore it was a rare occurrence. If the student has never been caught stealing, then a ‘0’ goes in the box. On the other hand, if the student has been caught stealing multiple times, then a ‘3’ would be the most appropriate rating.

  8. After each survey, click submit.
