  10. Q8.In case of a LMV Driving License Holder with Validity to Drive Transport vehicle, if the Validity of LMV-NTV expires and that of LMV-TV is valid, is he authorised to drive LMV-NTV? Situation is imaginary under the present statute. This situation is arising due to clerical error or by the omission of the officer who renews the license. If the International License Holders normal license has expired can he drive a vehicle under the International License in India?   13. Q11,Motor Vehicle Acts always speaks about Chassis Alteration and does not say anything about Chassis Replacement. In an accident the chassis of the vehicle has been damaged and is beyond the scope of economical repairs. What are the conditions specified by the Motor Vehicle Department for replacement of the chassis. If the New Chassis is coming with no Chassis No., which Chassis No. needs to be punched on to it and if the New Chassis is coming with a Chassis No. should the same be erased or endorsed in the RC Book. Contd… In the case of chassis supplied with chassis number engraved by the manufacturer, the same is endorsed in the RC with remarks In the case of Chassis without number, allowed to engrave the existing old chassis number and this will be endorsed in the RC with remarks Motor Vehicles Dept.Kerala

  15. Q12,In case of Articulated Vehicles. The Tractor can be attached to any Trailer. Does the RC of Tractor specify the details of Trailers to be used? Can the trailer attached to a tractor be used with any other Tractor? Tractor Trailer combination is not an articulated vehicle i.e, every tractor and trailer should have separate registration and connected records But articulated vehicle is a combination of prime mover and semi trailer(semi trailer itself is not a motor vehicle) Additional semi trailers can be attached with prime mover and the technical specifications of each should be endorsed in the RC and can be interchanged Motor Vehicles Dept.Kerala

  16. Q13,A vehicle is used in a factory for internal purposeuse inside the premises only. Is it mandatory for the vehicle to be Registered and Should the Driver hold a Driving License?   17. Q14,Is the extract of Vehicle Details or Driving License Details from www.keralamvd.gov.in can be treated as a valid information for insurance claim processing? Not coming under the perview of M V Act and Rules But may be decided by the authority as a policy matter Motor Vehicles Dept.Kerala

  18. Q15,A Driving License is valid throughout India. What is the procedure of renewing it (as per MV act or Rules) from an authority in another state?   25. Q21,Earlier the www.keralamvd.gov.in website was providing an option to identify the vehicle using Chassis. No or Engine No. This was very helpful for the insurance industry to identify the Registration No, of the vehicle. What is the alternative for the same? If there is no alternative, please provide a solution for the same. This may be represented before the Govt of Kerala for policy decision Motor Vehicles Dept.Kerala

  26. Q22,When ever an insurance premium check bounces the insurer informs the same to the owner of the vehicle, registering authority by registered letter. What action can the M V Dept can take up in case of such violations? If the insurer fails to intimate the check bounce what action can be taken by the M V Dept? It would be good if the insurer informs the check bounce and non validity of the insurance police to the local enforcement authority as well as the vehicle details of any vehicle when access through the M V Dept website should also display insurers details.
