  1. Prioritize your life

  2. College is all about mastering the art of balance. Between work, school and friends, college students have very little time for much else • Although college students need a variety of activities, they must prioritize them

  3. Is school your first priority? • Colleges expect people to be students, not partiers, social butterflies or athletes • Students take classes, study, learn, take tests, and expand their intellectual life • If school falls third on your list of priorities you might not get enough studying or learn as much as you could • When you remember your primary purpose for being in college, you will find it easier to place it on the top of the list of priorities

  4. How do you know what is more important? • College students face the question “What is more important?” when trying to prioritize their lives’ • When deciding what should be a priority or the order of your priorities, ask yourself these simple questions: • 1. What would happen if I didn’t do it? • Would you fail the class? • Would you lose your job?

  5. 2. Will this benefit me down the road? • Will checking social networking sites be more effective than studying for an exam? • 3.What are my motivations? • Do I have good reasons for doing this? • Am I just wasting valuable time? • 4.Does it matter? - Does it really matter if you don’t do this? Does it matter if you do?

  6. Be flexible • After you have created a list of your priorities you must remember that you cannot control some things • If work is your first priority but you have an exam scheduled on a work day, you might have to reprioritize so that you don’t fail the exam • You could possibly like your new list of priorities better than your old one after you rearrange them

  7. “Me Time” • When getting your priorities in order, you must remember to add some “ Me Time” • If you overwhelm yourself with work, school, friends, and other activities your health is going to be affected • If you become ill because you sacrificed time for yourself, your priorities might not be taken care of • Take some time to relax and step away from all your stress
