Company leaders will explain that the UK has world-leading capabilities in advanced engineering; from advanced materials to manufacturing technology. Company decision-makers recognise that the UK's lead in manufacturing is well-established and build on that distinguished legacy by continuing to develop pioneering products and technologies that are sold all over the world. Automotive Industrial Strategy: Industry and Government in Partnership The UK automotive sector has recovered strongly from the global financial crisis, with record volumes and significant global exports. At the heart of this success is the Automotive Council, a pioneering collaboration between government and industry, which collaboratively sets a long term agenda for the future of the sector. This session features the co-Chairs of the Council and leading automotive executives articulating how the Industrial Strategy is making the UK the leading destination in Europe for automotive FDI and guaranteeing further growth.

  5. How British excellence in film technology can inspire creativity in industry The Creative Industries Sectors are at the heart of UK innovation and screen businesses such as film, TV and animation are leading the way through visual effects, 3D and 4K technology. This sessions brings together multi award winning film makers who will be discussing and showcasing the UK’s leading position in this area of innovation and how it is being used across industry to support technological developments in the future design and developments of products. Game-Changing Technologies - towards a Third Industrial Revolution New technologies like 3D printing, and intelligent mobility, are creating exciting new businesses, new business-models, and new strategic industries. This session brings together innovation-intensive multinationals and small businesses, strategy-gurus and thought-leaders to give their perspectives on the radical new models of distributed manufacturing, power generation, and (car) ownership that this increasingly rapid change enables. Discover how partnership with the UK can help you take advantage of the coming industrial revolution! Programme Overview How trade negotiations can open up a world of opportunities for your business The session will underline that not only does more trade mean more economic growth overall, but makes it easier to do business (e.g. encouraging the use of international standards for industrial products, reduces the costs of doing business and opens up new export markets). High profile business figures will outline how they have benefitted from the EU’s trade agenda, thereby making the case for both open markets and the UK’s continued membership of the EU. They will be able to give concrete examples of where the UK’s push within the EU for trade liberalisation has opened up new opportunities and improved the overall trading climate.
