ARRA Education Funds to New Hampshire to date: • Title I, Part A $30,947,654 • Title II Part D, Educational Technology Grants $3,209,375 • IDEA Part B $47,461,265 • IDEA Part B Preschool $1,616,311 • Homeless Youth $190,310 • Independent Living State Grants $242,913 • Vocational Rehabilitation $1,923,884 • Services for Older Individuals who are Blind $80,095 • National School Lunch Equipment Assistance $215,765

  6. Reforming New Hampshire’s Education System Early Learning K - 12 Higher Education Four Assurances Standards & Assessments Effective Teachers & Leaders Data Systems Struggling Schools

SFSF Phase Two American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:NH - $200,787,230; $160 million to districts Grantees: States (Office of the Governor), which make sub-grants to school districts and public institutions of higher education Type of grant: Formula Purpose • save and create jobs • drive education reform • increase transparency Proposed program requirements: provide data against a set of indicators to measure progress against four reform areas. Where data is unavailable, States must submit a plan by which data will be transparent to public by no later than September 30, 2011 • The metrics include 3 descriptors and 30 indicators • Of the 30 indicators, 9 request confirmation on existing information • Of the 21 new indicators, 8 are yes/no questions • Number of indicators and descriptors by assurance area: • Equity in Teacher Distribution: 8 • Improving Collection and Use of Data: 2 • Standards and Assessments: 14 • Support for Struggling School: 9

We Have a Singular Opportunity for BOLD Action! • This new approach will: • Allow New Hampshire to achieve school transformation, focusing on goals that are not only possible, but attainable • Draw on an unprecedented opportunity in terms of Federal investments • Work collaboratively with all the levels of education, pre-school through college, as well as across government agencies and with other stakeholders, supporting all dimensions of a student’s need, • build on what the Department is already doing effectively to support student learning and engagement, • bring to schools our innovative strategies and demonstrate how they are effective. • Why? Because children are our future citizens and our most valuable resource. We all care about the success of EVERY child.
