  4. Local Healthwatch role • Represent the collective voice – health and social care • Scrutinise the quality of service provision • Inform the commission decision making process • Have a seat on the Health and Wellbeing Board

  5. Local Healthwatch role • Provide local evidence based information • Help people access and make choices about care • Influence the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

  6. What is a JSNA? • “Big Picture” of local health needs • Looks at what needs to be done now and in the future to improve people’s lives • Collects information from lots of different sources, including asking local people what they think

  7. JSNA - What is its purpose? • Provides information to those making decisions about services to improve health • This includes: • Local needs and how we compare • Which groups who are worse off • What services are provided • What works to improve health and wellbeing
