  1. Hardware / Software requirements Minimum PC requirements are: • Supported O.S.: Windows 98, 98 Second Edition, Millennium Edition, 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4 or above, XP Home Edition with Service Pack 1 or above, or XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 1 or above, XP Media Center Edition • Intel Pentium 233MHz CPU • 64MB RAM for all operating systems except Windows XP, 128MB for Windows XP • 100MB (non-RAID) free disk space (120MB required for Japanese version) • Graphics card and monitor supporting 256 or more colors (65536 colors recommended)

Determine the Installation Type During installation, the user must choose between two types of installation: • Antivirus only – This installs only the anti-virus features of the PC-cillin product. It leaves off the personal firewall, Wi-Fi detection, and other features. Reasons to choose this type of installation include: • It reduces the amount of disk space required by the product • The PC has other software installed that provide the other security features provided by PC-cillin • Full – This installs the full PC-cillin product with all of the features previously described. Trend Micro recommends this type of installation.

  3. Determine the Configuration type During installation, the user must choose between initial PC-cillin configurations: • Lightweight –only the real-time scanning feature enabled. E-mail, WebMail, web browser, IM, and scheduled scanning features are still present, just not enabled. Reasons to choose this type of installation include: • It reduces the amount of memory and CPU resources used by PC-cillin to perform scanning • It allows a migration of those features from other software security products that protect against these threats to PC-cillin. • Recommended –features enabled as recommended by Trend Micro.

When installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005, the error message Setup has detected an unsupported platform... appears. • To resolve this problem, make sure that the machine where PC-cillin is to be installed meets system requirements.Below are the system requirements for all types of PC-cillin installation:Operating System: • MicrosoftTM WindowsTM 98 • Microsoft Windows 98 SE • Microsoft Windows Me • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4 or above • Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 1, 2 • Internet Browser:Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1 or above

Installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 using a CD-ROM To install PC-cillin Internet Security using a CD-ROM: - Insert the PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 Installation CD into your computer's CD-rom drive. - The window shown above will appear. Click on Install Program to proceed. The setup program shall prepare InstallShield Wizard that will help you through the rest of the process. - The Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 - InstallShield wizard will appear. Click Next to proceed. - The License Agreement screen will appear. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click on Next to proceed. - To ensure that your computer is clean, PC-cillin will scan your computer for viruses. - Fill out the Registration Information form. - The User Name and Serial number fields are required. The Organization field is optional. - Once completed, click Next to go to the next step. - Select a location where you want to save the files. Users have the option to select where to save the files by clicking the Change button. - Once you have selected where to save the files, click Next. By default, the files will be saveid in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\PC-cillin 2005\ folder. - Select Installation Type, then click Next to proceed. - Select Configuration Type, then click Next. - Click the Install button to begin the installation. - Once installation has completed, click on the Finish button. - You will be prompted to restart the computer. Click Yes to restart.

  7. The message The Wizard was interrupted before Trend Micro Internet Security could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified... appears when installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 • To resolve the issue, check for the following: • The machine should meet the PC-cillin system requirements. • The machine should not be infected with a virus. Run HouseCall, Trend Micro's free online virus scanner or use the Trend Micro Damage Cleanup Services, which was formerly called Trend Micro System Cleaner (TSC). Check the Virus Encyclopedia for information on how to perform an automatic cleaning of the viruses detected. • Check if any of the following Trend Micro products has been previously installed:a. These antivirus products should be completely uninstalled in Control Panel > Add Remove Programs. • B. If these antivirus programs cannot be completely uninstalled, use the PCCtool.exe tool. This is done in any of the following ways: c. Option I. Use the PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 CD • d. Insert the PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 CD in the CD-ROM drive. • Open the Windows Explorer and go to the X:\Tools\ folder, where X is the letter for the CD-ROM drive. • Open the PCCTool.exe file. Click the Uninstall tab. • Select the PC-cillin version to be uninstalled from the drop down text box. Click the Uninstall button. • Restart the computer.

Installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 without undergoing a virus scan To install PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 without a virus scan:Extract the installation files to a directory of your choice.Cancel the Setup process. After extraction, Setup will prepare InstallShield Wizard. Once InstallShield Wizard appears, click the Cancel button. Click the Yes button to confirm the cancellation of the Setup process. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard. Go to the command prompt by following the steps below. Click the Start menu and select Run. Type command and click Ok. Go to the location where you have extracted the files. To begin the installation process, type Setup.exe /vPRESCAN=0 and press Enter. Complete the installation by following the onscreen prompts.

  9. Unable to connect to the Internet after installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 • This problem arises when the computer is not using the correct Personal Firewall profile. The default profile is Direct Connection. • Resolve this issue by choosing the Personal Firewall profile that best suits the computing environment. Do the following: • Open the PC-cillin Internet Security console. • Click Network Security > Personal Firewall. • Select the Enable Personal Firewall check box. • Choose a profile setting from the current profile box. • Click Apply.

After upgrading to Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005, users receive the error message Service Subscription has expired. • After upgrading to PC-cillin Internet Security, users receive the following error message: • Solution:  To resolve this issue, do the following: • Reset the registration of the PC-cillin Internet Security software. • To reset the registration of your PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 software, do the following: • - On your computer, click Start > Run. On the field, type regedit and then press Enter. • - The Windows Registry window appears. • Important: Before editing the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For more information, view the Restoring the Registry Help topic in Regedit.exe or Restoring a Registry Key Help topic in Regedt32.exe. Making incorrect changes to your registry can cause serious system problems. Always make a backup copy before making any registry changes. • - Click the plus (+) sign on the HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE key. Click the plus (+) sign on SOFTWARE. • - Click the plus (+) sign on TREND MICRO. Click on PC-CILLIN. On the right side of the screen, under Name, look for Register No.. Right-click on it and select Delete, to delete the registry key. • - Close the Windows Registry Editor window. Open the PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 program. • - Click the Updates and Registration button. Click on Registration. • Retype the serial number and click on Register Now. • Provide your serial number and the e-mail address you have used to register your copy of PC-cillin Internet Security 2005. • Try to register using the new serial number of pc cillin.

Where are the installation logs of PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 located? • In case the installation failed, where can the user find the installation logs of PC-cillin Internet Security 2005? • Solution:  The following files contain the necessary information regarding the installation of PC-cillin Internet Security 2005: • Windows installer logs: • On Windows 98/ME - C:Windows\Temp\pwixxxx.log • On Windows NT/2000/XP - C:WinNT\Temp\pwixxxx.log • PC-cillin Internet Security installation logs • On Windows 98/ME - C:Windows\Temp\tpmxxxx.log • On Windows NT/2000/XP - C:WinNT\Temp\tpmxxxx.log

Unable to send or receive emails after installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 • PC-cillin Internet Security does not change the POP3 server settings made by the Internet Service Provider (ISP) on the localhost. Make sure these settings are configured to accommodate PC-cillin Internet Security. Contact the ISP if unsure of how to do this. Users should also configure PC-cillin Internet Security on the local machine to be able to send and receive emails. Do any of the following: • Option I: Edit the Personal Firewall profile. • Open the PC-cillin Internet Security console. Go to Start > Programs > Trend Micro PC-cillin > Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005. • On the sidebar, go to Network Security > Personal Firewall. • Select the Enable Personal Firewall option. • Select the Office Network option as profile. • The default profile is Direct Connection. • Go to Edit Profile > Office Network > Edit. • Click the Exception List tab then, select the POP3 and SMTP options. • Click OK. • Continue on Next page.

  13. Unable to send or receive emails after installing Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 Option II. Check the email settings. Verify the type of authentication used by the email server. There are several types of authentication used for emails. If the email server is using APOP SSL or Secure Password Authentication, refer to Does Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 email scan support IMAP, APOP, SSL, and SPA? Verify the type of email access. There are several types of email access. One of this is Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP). If this type is used to retrieve emails, refer to Does Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 email scan support IMAP, APOP, SSL, and SPA? If the issue persists, send the following information to PC-cillin@support.trendmicro.com: System Information PC-cillin Internet Security Logs Note: PC-cillin Internet Security only supports the following email clients: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0, Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, or 2003, Netscape 7.1, Eudora Pro™ 6J, AOL™ Mail , Yahoo! ™ Mail and MSN™ Hotmail

Uninstalling Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 Uninstall PC-cillin Internet Security using any of the following procedure: Option 1: From the Start Menu - Click Start > Programs > Trend Micro PC-cillin > Uninstall. When the Windows Installer dialog box appears, click Yes to proceed with uninstallation. The system runs the uninstallation process. When it is finished, a confirmation dialog box appears. Click the Yes button to restart your computer, or No to restart at a later time. Option 2: From the Control Panel - Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. The Add or Remove Programs window appears. Click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click on Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security (refer to previous screenshot). On the right side of the window, click the Remove button (refer to previous screenshot). When a confirmation box appears, click Yes to proceed with the uninstallation. The system runs the uninstallation process. When it is finished, a confirmation dialog box appears. Click the Yes button to restart your computer, or No to restart at a later time. Option 3: Using PCCTool - Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security 2005\ directory. Double-click on the PCCTool.exe file. When the Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security window appears, click on the [E]Uninstall tab. When a confirmation dialog box appears, click on the Uninstall button. The uninstallation process begins. When the system finishes the uninstallation, a confirmation dialog box appears. Click the Yes button to restart your computer, or No to restart at a later time. Option 4: From the Run command window - Click Start > Run. Type "msiexec /x {7698EDA5-A90F-4205-99CB-8FF6F9048ED9}" in the Open field. Click OK > Yes.

An error message appears when uninstalling Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 Do the following: - Go to the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security 2005\ directory. - Find the PCCTool.exe file. Double-click it. - The Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security window appears: - Click the [E]Uninstall tab then, click the 4. Uninstall button. - The confirmation dialog box appears: “You are about to uninstall the product. Click uninstall if you want to continue or click Quit to cancel without uninstalling.” - Click the Uninstall button to begin the uninstallation. - When the uninstallation is finished, another confirmation dialog box appears: “You must restart the system for the uninstallation to take effect. Do you want to restart your system now?” - Click the Yes button to restart your computer, or No to restart later.
