  1. OSU Libraries2010 Group Project AwardZ-List, JSTOR/ACS withdrawals and Reference move projectsDAS students and staff Deanne Bruner, Diane Siple, Becky Hallett, Deborah Dombrowski, Loretta McCaffery, Xiaoping Li, Richard Sapon-White, Rod Lawlor, Melissa Hartley, and students Hannah Toon and Rena Sapon-White. IUS students and staff Patrick Layton, Jim Rankin, Valerie Sterling, Cindy Skinner, Kristin Swetland, and students David Moynihan, Shea Montgomery, and John Cha. The Digital Access Services and Instruction and User Services students and staff completed three major projects last summer; the Z-list project, the JSTOR/ACS withdrawals and the Reference collection move. The intricate processes of each project required careful coordination and communication between the two departments. Each project was completed ahead of time thanks to the willingness of the staff to contribute and work together on these complicated but important projects. Karyle Butcher, University Librarian

  2. OSU Libraries 2010 Outstanding Employee AwardLoretta RiellyIn the short time Loretta has been Head of Collection Development, she has guided the department through a number of impressive activities and projects. She led the librarians through a difficult serials cancellation project, coordinated the move to the new approval plan service YBP, and lead the CD team through the difficult business of revising their allocation plan. She has tackled all these projects with enthusiasm and humor. Her knowledge of the library and her forward-thinking outlook have made CD a “fun (and hopping!) place to be.” Karyle Butcher, University Librarian

  3. OSU Libraries 2010 Outstanding Classified Employee AwardRyan WickWhen Special Collections had a large number of digital content but not the infrastructure to make the content available, Ryan stepped in and recommended Omeka. He was instrumental in the implementation of the software, wrote new code to customize Omeka to meet our needs, and helped to create an outstanding web publishing platform that will be used by many library departments in the future. Ryan’s work here at OSU “is a perfect complement to the spirit of innovation that is such a source of pride to many of us in the OSU Libraries.” Karyle Butcher, University Librarian

  4. OSU Libraries 2010 Outstanding Classified Employee AwardDeanne BrunerDeanne lead the staff of DAS through several major projects this summer, including the Z-list project, the JSTOR/ACS withdrawals and the Reference collection move. These projects were completed ahead of time thanks in part to Deanne’s organizational and communication skills. She devised procedures that helped simplify the process and she worked closely with the University of Oregon staff to coordinate the project. Deanne has taken on many new projects in DAS. Her responsibilities have grown steadily and she is always willing to do what is needed for the library to achieve it’s goals. Karyle Butcher, University Librarian

  5. OSU Libraries 2010 Outstanding Classified Employee AwardJessicca LawheadJessee demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in the Kindle project. When the project required someone to coordinate all the different departments involved in the project, Jessee stepped in. Her knowledge of policies and procedures, services and systems were critical to the success of the program. She encouraged the team to look at the services as user-centered rather than library-centered. The Kindle project has been highly successful due to her efforts.
