  2. AMC 20-XZ Objectives • Builds on existing guidance material • Contains both airworthiness and operational criteria • With AMC 20-XX completes family of EASA/JAA RNAV guidance material from departure to final approach • On EASA 2005 Rulemaking Programme

  3. Scope • Consistent with RNPSORSG revised RNP concept • Addressing today’s RNP qualified aircraft • Such aircraft already considered P-RNAV compliant • RNP in the Final Approach Segment

  4. Scope cont. • Supporting RNP 0.3 approvals but also airworthiness demonstration for < 0.3 NM • Consistency with FAA Notice 8000.287 Special Aircraft and Aircrew Authorisation Required (SAAAR) and Public SAAAR criteria

  5. AMC 20-XZ Aspects • Applicability • RNP compliant systems e.g., MASPS ED-75()/DO-236() functional criteria • Assumptions • A multi-sensor GNSS, DME/DME/IRU platform • Latest ICAO Doc 8168 criteria (OCP RNP Sub-Group)

  6. AMC 20-XZ Aspects cont. • Flight Guidance • LNAV or LNAV/Baro VNAV • AC 120-29A Baro-VNAV performance • Apart from the RNP specifics, common flight crew operating techniques and procedures with AMC 20-XX

  7. AMC 20-XZ Status • AMC circulated over a year ago • Comments received but no further revision • Decision at NASG to harmonise with ongoing PARC work to develop Public RNP SAAAR Procedures • No sense in having different criteria • AMC 20-XZ will track PARC activity

  8. AMC 20-XZ Status cont. • Agreed to include relevant Appendix 3 and 4 material from Notice 8000.287 • Include a requirement for an Operational Support Document detailing airworthiness assumptions • Operational requirements and issues still evolving within frame of current approvals (Boeing/Airbus)

  9. Summary • Revised AMC 20-XZ in work but awaiting publication of FAA criteria for Public SAAAR e.g., AC 90-RNP SAAAR • Mature AMC 20-XZ available by October 2005 (EUROCONTROL/FAA RNP Workshop)

  10. Summary cont. • Guidance leaflet will then be presented to EASA and JAA OST for adoption • Public consultation • Publication as AMC 20 Series: • AMC 20-XZ, RNP Approach Operations
