  1. My Independent Mold Experiment Created by: Lara Washington

  2. Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to see how the apple reacts to the different types of liquid poured on to it.

  3. Variable • Control • Perfume • Wine • Milk • Soy Sauce

  4. Controlling the experiment • Ziploc bag • Control • Same Location

  5. Hypothesis I predict that the apple with wine poured onto it would grow the most mold. I would think that because when Dr. Punja came in, he shared the fact that alcohol contains mold. I think that in a mold on mold situation, it would grow the most molds.

  6. Materials • Ziploc Bags x5 • Sharpie • Apple (any kind) • Perfume • Wine • Milk • Soy Sauce

  7. Procedure • 1. Cut the apple into 5 equal pieces. • 2. Take the first piece and put it into a Ziploc bag, seal it and label it as “Control”. • 3. Take the second piece of apple and put it into a Ziploc bag. Before sealing the bag, spray 3 sprays of perfume onto it. With a sharpie, label the bag as “Perfume”. • 4. Take the third piece of apple and put it into a Ziploc bag. Before sealing the bag, pour a fair amount of wine onto it. With a sharpie, label the bag as “Wine”. • 5. Take the fourth piece of apple and put it into a Ziploc bag. Before sealing the bag, pour a fair amount of milk onto it. With a sharpie, label the bag as “Milk” • 6. Take the fifth piece of apple and put it into a Ziploc bag. Before sealing the bag, pour a fair amount of soy sauce onto it. With a sharpie, label the bag as “Soy Sauce”. • 7. Place apples in a controlled environment.

  8. Day 1 OBSERVATIONS: No mold. MILK PERFUME SOY SAUCE WINE CONTROL

  9. Day 4 Mold growth developing.

  10. Day 8 Mold spreading.

  11. Day 12 Mold starting to eat the apple.

  12. CONCLUSION The conclusion to this experiment is that mold would grow anywhere even if you don’t do anything to its food. It just needs the right temperature and environment.

  13. THE END OF MY EXPERIMENT THANKS FOR WATCHING
