  1. The “Lunar”Sabbathby Norman B. Williswww.nazareneisrael.org

  2. Lunar Sabbath Theory:Concept that we should rest on the phases of the moon, rather than count to seven.

  3. Lunar Sabbath Theory:An attempt to reconcile theweekly “count 7” with the monthly count.

  4. “What if….” “…lost on a desert island….” “…Sabbath count was lost….”

  5. Lunar Sabbath Theory:

  6. Problem:There is no way to divide by 7.Moon phases not really discreet.7.375 days / week

  7. 30 day month, then 29 day month.

  8. Lunar Sabbath theory:“The festivals all fall on moon phases.”(Doesn’t work.)

  9. Passover Problem (3 moon phases)

  10. Mattityahu (Matthew) 12:4040 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

  11. Pentecost (50) on 6th Day of Week.

  12. Aviv barley calendar gives a single dayfor the new moon day, based on observation.Either the new moon is on the 30th day, unless it is physically sighted before (on the 29th).This is also practicable (you can do it).

  13. [Mishnah, Rosh Hashanah 23b]How do they test the witnesses? The pair who arrive first are tested first. The senior of them is brought in and they say to him, “Tell us how you saw the moon, in front of the sun, or behind the sun? To the north of it, or to the south? How big was it, and in which direction was it inclined? And how broad was it?”

  14. If he says “In front of the sun,” his evidence is rejected. After that they would bring in the second and test him. If their accounts tallied their evidence was accepted, and other pairs were only questioned briefly, not because they were required at all, but so that they should not be disappointed, [and] so that they should not be dissuaded from coming. [Mishnah, Rosh Hashanah 23b]

  15. The Lunar Sabbath calendar gives 2-3 days for the new moon day, because it goes into conjunction. You have to pick which of the 2-3 days will be “the” New Moon Day (first, last, best guess at the middle).

  16. This month has 2 days conjunction.Choose the first?Second? What if there are 3 days?Or clouds?

  17. The only way to choose the exact middle point is by pre-calculation, which requires either advanced computation,or a method not specified in the Torah.(This requires adding to the Torah, which is forbidden.)

  18. Preparation Day is alsoimpossible to keep.

  19. Most important of all,YHWH says to count the Days
