  1. GPP CDF Refurbishment • ADA • LEED • Budget

  2. DCEO Grant Proposal • The DOE will also fund Fermilab to undertake a significant renovation and re-purposing of an existing heavy industrial assembly building.

  3. DOE Order 430.2B • The installation of sustainable building materials and practices throughout the Department’s existing building assets and the attainment of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for all new construction and major building renovations in excess of $5 million. • All buildings falling below this threshold are required to comply with the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings (Guiding Principles).

  4. Accessibility • Compliance with Architectural Barriers (ABA/ADA), International Building Code (IBC), & Illinois Accessibility Code (IAC) required by Work Smart Set of Standards. • ABA F202.3 Alterations.  Where existing elements or spaces are altered, each altered element or space shall comply with the applicable requirements of Chapter 2.

  5. IBC 3411.6 • A building, facility or element that is altered shall comply with the applicable provisions in Chapter 11 (ACCESSIBILITY) and ICC A117.1, unless technically infeasible. Where compliance with this section is technically infeasible, the alteration shall provide access to the maximum extent technically feasible.

  6. IAC 400.510b(4) (Subpart F) • If the alteration costs 15% or less of the reproduction cost of the public facility, the element or space being altered shall comply with the applicable requirements for new construction • If the alteration costs more than 15% but less than 50% of the reproduction cost of the public facility, and more than $100,000, the following shall comply with the applicable requirements for new construction • The element or space being altered • An entrance & MOE • Horizontal & vertical accessible routes
