Roadmap – End User ServicesImportant Desktop Milestones: April 2014 • Internet Explorer - DSS is currently on Version 8 • Version 10 beginning enterprise deployment • Version 11 in discovery • Office • DSS is currently on Office 2007 • Version 2010 beginning enterprise deployment • WR DSS-3551 for Shared Sites • Version 2013 limited to touch enabled Windows 8 tablet devices. • WR DSS-3986 for Shared Sites

Roadmap – Future of Mobile • Blackberry and Cellular • Enterprise Handheld Service • AirWatch (replacement for Good Technology) • now available for Apple iOS and Android phones • Commonwealth-owned versus BYOD is an agency decision • Plan to move Good users to AirWatch in 2014 • Blackberry Devices • Current BES 5 service reaches EOL Q3 2015 • Your agency has approximately 224 Blackberry devices • How is your agency using Blackberry’s today? • What are challenges of moving to AirWatch? • Is there any support needed by VITA? • What are agency BYOD plans?

Roadmap – Messaging and Directory Services • Meetings and Instant Messaging • MS Office versions through 2007 provided LiveMeeting for meetings and Office Communicator for instant messaging • Office Communicator obsolete Q4 2014 • Office 2010 and beyond offer Lync instead. • Migration to Lync will begin in Q3 2014

Roadmap – Messaging and Directory Services • Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) going through an upgrade now • Exchange 2010 • Mainstream support runs through January 2015 • NG to assess next version of Exchange to deploy in 2014 • Evaluation to determine what future version of Exchange will be migrated to • Active Directory (AD) • Windows Server 2008 reaches EOL Q1 2015 • No transition path at this time • RightFax • EOL Q4 2014 • Looking at upgrade paths

Mainframe • MVS Operating system z/OS 2.1 • Next release planned December 2014 • DB2 Version 10 • Planned for end of June 2014; potential to push out to 3Q14 (only impacts DSS, SCB, and VEC) • Physical tape removed October 2013. • Unisys Database System • VMAX install June 8, 2014 • DLM 2200 to be retired

Storage Infrastructure • Gen1 to UCS at CESC virtual environment • Updated hardware platform utilizing Cisco UCS servers  • Improved scalability in Memory and Computing (CPU) capacity • 10 gig NICs, UCS Fabric Inner Connects with 2x8GB connections back to directors • Increased performance to SAN core switches  • Latest versions of VMware software ESXi 5.1 • Highly scalable and reliable env; increases virtualization benefits • Storage Services Infrastructure • Replacing existing CX4-960 infrastructure at CESC with two new VMAX10K arrays (Mainframe, Servers (tier 2) and NAS) • Celera gateway infrastructure (at CESC & SWESC) to be replaced with VG8 NAS gateways. 240 CIFS File systems and 60 NFS file systems will be migrated to the new infrastructure.

Feedback • Are there products that are important to DSS that we did not discuss today? • What questions or concerns does DSS have about products that are transitioning or the timelines for transition? • Please note that projects related to these transitions may be candidates for Business Requirements for Technology (BRT). • Does DSS want to be an early adopter for new products? • Are there products that DSS needs to implement on a specific timeline?
