  2. The LMC (electronic) catalog is run by a program called Surpass Web Safari.Web Safari is an index of all the items in the LMC. It can help you find what you are seeking and tell you where to look. This is the icon you will see on your computer screen to help you get to the catalog.

  3. This screen will appear when you open the program.

  4. Click on these buttons to Change a Search Path. The Library materials are divided into sections just like the Library itself is. You have to tell the program where to look.

  5. Click on this button to change to a Visual Navigator. If spelling is difficult for you, you can choose a visual search.

  6. This screen will appear. If you were to choose Holidays … You can choose one of the areas to continue your search.

  7. This screen will appear. If you chooseHalloween….. You can choose one of the areas to continue your search.

  8. This screen will appear. This tells you there are a total of 199 records. This screen lists the first 20 or you can select “All”. To see more click on Next. When you are finished click on Go Back. This lists the books about Halloween in our collection.

  9. This screen will appear. Click here to return to the Visual Search Home page.

  10. This time you choose to search by Topic. This screen will appear. Notice the choices are in Dewey Decimal sections.

  11. If you choose 700’s Arts and Recreation, this screen will appear.

  12. If you choose Sports this screen will appear.

  13. This screen gives the basics for each book. It tells you the CALL #of the book, which will help you find it on the shelf. It tells you the TITLE of the book. It tells you the AUTHORof the book. It tells you whether the book is checked IN or checked OUT.

  14. If you want more information about the book, click on your choice. This screen will appear. Scroll down the page for more information. The summary is helpful because it tells you what the book is about. A.R. Information is located here!

  15. If you choose to do a Quick Searchrather than a Visual Search… You can search by Author. You can search by Title. You can search by Key Word. You can search by Subject. Type in your search term. Choosing Author, Title, or Subject is better than choosing Search. The more specific your search is the better.

  16. Clicking on Title and a search term will bring up the screen shown below. I then selected Harry Potter and the Chamberof Secrets and it took me to the results page I selected Title Search and entered Harry Potter

  17. You can write a review on any book in our library, check to see what books you have checked out and more and create a book wish list! … To do use these special features you need to Log-in. Your Log-in is: your library number twice.

  18. When you are logged in your name will appear. To find out what books you have checked out go to My Account > View My Account

  19. To create a book Review • Locate the book you want to write a review on. • Scroll to the bottom of the page and find Patron Reviews. • Select Click here to write your own review of this title.

  20. LMC Catalog is the Key to unlocking the mystery of finding materials in the LMC.

  21. So use the LMC Web Safari Catalog to help you unlock the door to the books in the LMC.
