    1. Results from Usability Tests Week 1 SOM Service Learning Usability Team

    2. Who were the participants? SPARKS program manager Post-bac looking at medical school Undergrad in nursing program Pre-med undergrad Most currently involved with service learning or advocacy in some way

    3. Purpose of site Want it not to be exclusive to medical students (pharmacy, nursing, public health students will also use it) Clear instructions on how to post event to site Calendar that is easy to use Use site not only to inform but to recruit students to service learning events

    4. Homepage Like look (though one participant noticed all look like medical professionals) Difference between featured events and upcoming events? (Featured events more popular?) What is overview? (If overview is homepage, should be called that.)

    5. Organization Index http://depts.washington.edu/iserv/usability_test_1/ Want more instructions on how to search Confusion about “mission” search field (use “keyword” instead?) Point of page just to provide info or to recruit as well? Primary contact- person to contact for event or for org. info?

    6. Events calendar page One person mentioned problem of events lasting more than one day Liked level of detail Desired fields: how event accessible, time commitment Add country? WA as default state in state field

    7. Search for event, Desired filters Event type (is this a seminar, hands-on activity, health fair, etc.?) Keyword search Patient contact vs. major activity = confusion

    8. Add Event What does “belong to series” mean? Should have repeating option as event may be ongoing Dropdown menu for time No submit button Pop-up if event I am submitting conflicts with event already in system

    9. For Event Description What is “training”? What is “suggestions”? Transportation (Provided? Bus accessible?) How many people needed for event Description of roles at event – i.e. providing health care, doing registration, doing health talk, etc.

    10. Event Description to be Eliminated Two people expressed confusion over mission Confusion about series

    11. Three or Four most important features of Event Date, time, location, description Also target population and contact info

    12. Impressions of site “Wonderful enhancement to my job” getting students involved in service learning “Will be very useful” “Some instructions not clear” “Not very welcoming”
