  14. The University is managed by the Aalto University Foundation The Charter of Foundation was signed in June 2008. Its seven-member Board was appointed in August 2008 by the Finnish Government and representatives of external funding. Contributions as per the Charter of Foundation: Finnish Government contributes € 500 million towards the basic capital of the University. Donations of at least € 200 million are to be collected. Additional Government funding will be allocated to Aalto University for years 2010-2019.

Aalto Design Factory (1) • Design Factory is a common platform, innovative factory building for Aalto students, researches and other staff members and their partners • Established in 2007 – ”being the 1st Aalto” unit, (Aalto University Foundation started the operations 1.1.2010) • Situated in Otaniemi campus, Espoo ( 3 000 m2) • Design Factory is connected to electrical engineering and electronics, automation, architecture, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, computer science, and industrial engineering and management

Aalto Design Factory (2) • The School of Art and Design is represented by the fields of textile art and clothing design, industrial design and environmental art. • The School of Economics is linked to the Factory through marketing, international business and innovations. Ideal innovation development infrasturcture for passionate people • Active involvement of big companies (Nokia, KONE) and DF has also own start-up unit (Venture Garage)
