  2. BMW 2.0L Diesel Engine Oil pump used as idler gear between crank gear and BSM gear. Backlash from oil pump to crank gear set using oil pump housing adjustment Single piece housing (no split) Weights bolted onto shafts

  3. BMW 2.0L Diesel Engine Part of the oil pump gear has a consumable solid lubricant coating (see shaded area). The coating thickness is the same as the desired backlash. Axial and radial force is applied to the oil pump during installation for tight mesh; bolts are tightened. Coating is consumed with initial running, leaving the desired backlash.
