  2. Overview • BWHO (people) -> PIE • BWHO (documents) -> WebLIB • Cold Fusion mailing lists -> listserv mailing lists • lhcb.cern.ch -> lhcb.web.cern.ch

  3. BWHO -> PIE (people) • Most entries verified • Missing entries added to PIE (needed for mailing lists) • Migration completed August 2000. • Consultation via grey book: http://graybook.cern.ch/ExperimentSearch.html • New features were added for us (mailing lists, external phone number)

  4. BWHO -> WebLIB (documents) • Documents (PS and PDF files) moved to WebLIB • http://weblib.cern.ch/LHCb • Migration completed August 2000

  5. Sending/reading email • To send email, use an address on the page: • http://lhcb-help.web.cern.ch/lhcb-help/html/sending.htm • To read archived emails, consult the archives on this page. • To subscribe yourself to one of the LHCb lists, please contact the LHCb secretariat. • Requests for new LHCb mailing lists should be addressed to the LHCb secretariat.

  6. Access to email archives • Four types: • nobody has access • only members have access (e.g. lhcb-cb) • mail server users have access • anybody has access (most of our lists) • Use your CERN Mail Server login and password. See https://wwwlistbox.cern.ch for help. • This can be changed, contact J. Closier

  7. Mailing lists • Some problems: people without Preferred or Generic CERN email address weren’t receiving email • Fixed by PIE team using External email address (= address known by BHWO) • PEM should be the same as External email! • People urged to set up/fix PEM/GEM, see: • http://consult.cern.ch/service/mail/cerndir/theory.html • Incorrect email addresses will be removed • Conversion completed mid September 2000

  8. Web server conversion • Move to IT support central Web server • FrontPage 2000, can be maintained as before with FrontPage 98 • Subwebs have become webs • Webs can be on AFS, eg physics web • Webnames the same as email lists • The new URL is : http://cern.ch/lhcb

  10. To edit the new web Open the website by typing the new name in the box next to “List Webs” Need permission, by default took webmaster list from http://lhcb-help.web.cern.ch/lhcb-help/html/sending.htm

Home directories, new webs • The www directory in home directories on ALNTC1 were mapped to • http://lhcb.cern.ch/~your-userid • If you don’t already have a new personal web, create one using: • https://web0.cern.ch/WebRegister/RegistrationStep1.asp • Move your files to this web with FrontPage • see Joel Closier if you need help, or if you want to create a new LHCb web.

  12. To access the old web • Temporarily, access to the old web can be forced by using the URL: • http://lhcbweb.cern.ch/ • name “lhcbweb” will be replaced by “lhcbbatch” in near future • If you find broken links, please tell J. Closier • Web conversion now considered complete
