Historical Background • March 1994 (MEP Resolution) • Mason Transit (Volunteer Added 11/1995) • September 1995 UIM program starts • UIM Rate $0.005 per mile ($50,000 per occurrence with $10,000 per occurrence property damage) • In 2000 UIM rate increased to $0.006 • UIM limits $60,000 per occurrence

What is UIM? • ??????????????????????????? • Offers protection from under-insured and uninsured drivers • The limits are for the total occurrence • $60,000 that’s it! • 1 claimant and/or 10 claimants • It does not preclude you from filing a lawsuit against the adverse driver • It is a first party coverage like property but processed like a liability claim

What is MEP? • It is very similar to your personal auto PIP coverage • What is PIP? • This is limited to vanpool drivers only • It is always secondary • Coverage is limited to $10,000 • payments for reasonable and necessary medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered occurrence and includes payments for dental services, prescriptions, prosthetic devices, ambulance expenses, and funeral expenses. Benefits do not include loss of income or expenses for household services.”
