Informal Mission of CPAGs The mission of the CPAG is to help UWEX staff and the agriculture and extension education committee implement and sustain high quality education programs that meet the needs and enrich the lives of local citizens and that result in a strong foundation of support for community-based extension education.

  3. The Wisconsin Idea The boundaries of the University are the boundaries of the State.

  4. Changes & Challenges • Shifts in community demographics • Population, economy • Fiscal resources limited • Need to “do more, faster, with less” • Extensions’ challenge of “the best kept secret”

  5. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Program advice • Input on program effectiveness • Identify new partners • Strengthen existing relationships • Communicate value

  6. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Program advice • Input into design of program planning process • Identification of key issues facing our County and educational response • On-going assessment of community issues and Extensions’ response.

  7. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Input on program effectiveness • Seek out feedback on Extension programming • Provide insights to educators on community perception and awareness of Extension • What impact is Extension programming having on the community?

  8. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Identify new partners • Mapping the connections within CPAG membership • New audiences for promoting programs; assist in connecting educators with underserved audiences. • New program partners • New funding/resource partners

  9. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Strengthen existing relationships • Local programming partners • Assess relationships with local, county, state decision-makers; assist in developing effective communications

  10. Purpose of Community Partner Advisory Groups (CPAG) • Communicate value • Learn the “big picture” of Extension • “Tell the story” of Extension; promote Extension programs • Advise development of marketing materials • Create opportunities for interactions with local and state decision-makers.

  11. CPAGs Should Reflect diverse voices Have regular interaction with EEC Interact with UW-Extension staff Build local strategies to communicate value CPAGs Should Not Make policy Take on budget authority Replace other advisory groups What CPAGs Do & Don’t Do
