Overview and Purpose of Presentation • Purpose of presentation: • To demonstrate the use of the DHIS for managerial purposes at all levels within the health system; • To indicate the difference in certain indicators (Fully immunised) between the RDS sites and rest of the country Overview: Reporting units in SA Analysis of data (using Fully Immunised as an example) at the following levels: National level District Municipality level Health District level Facility level

  4. Pack of documents: Information on: • Copy of this presentation • Table of selected indicators • HISP • DHIS • Data flow policy (NHISSA)

  5. Concluding remarks: • We have 2 years of complete and fairly good quality data on PHC services • DHIS has been used for routine health information • But can also include survey data • Is flexible and open (data elements and indicators, and facilities can be added)

  6. Concluding remarks: • Challenge is to: • encourage managers to use the data to manage and plan services • improve data quality • Dataset needs to be expanded to include: • Hospital data • Environmental health services • Financial information • Personnel • Transport
