  2. Regional Convention: Asia-pacific • Adopted in 1983 (31 member states invited) • 14 Signatories of convention • 2003: 19 state parties

  3. 7th Session of the Regional Committee • Held in Perth, Australia , 18-19 March 2003. • Paricipated 10 state parties and observers from 3 non-state parties. • Meeting followed by 1 day seminar on the Assessment of Overseas Academic Qualification • Report available at http://www.aparnet.org • http://www.unescobkk.org/education/aceid/higher-edu/academic_mobility.htm

  4. Issues discussed • Development of HE quality indicators • Diploma Supplement • Development of an Electronic Network of Assessors – APARNET (http://www.aparnet.org) • Updating the Handbook on Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Asia Pacific.

  5. Recommendations • Work towards getting more countries to ratify and implement the convention • Endorse the concept of Diploma Supplement • Request to hold assessment seminars • Adopt use of APARNET for exchange of information • 8th Session to be held in China in collaboration with ADCSC in 2005
