  1. Cummins ReCon Exchange Parts (RX) vs Cummins New Exchange Parts (NX) Whenever performing an authorized Cummins warranty repair the use of RX parts is required, with just a fewexceptions: • Before-In-Service (BIS) Failure – Cummins new or New Exchange (NX) parts are required • Cummins NX is the designated repair component (designation made by Cummins) • If repair of a failed component is more economical than replacement (Refer to Cummins Warranty Administration Manual) During a warranty repair, should an RX part not be available, only Cummins RapidServemay authorize deviation from the requirement to use RX parts. Verification that an RX part is not available will be required through the distributor. Dealers, on their own, are not authorized to substitute Cummins new or NX parts for RX during a warranty repair. If you encounter an availability issue or have a question regarding the correct part for a repair, contact Cummins RapidServe(800-832-4282). There are consequences to installing an unauthorized part during a warranty repair. Please do not leave your business or the customer vulnerable to unexpected charges or limited reimbursement by failing to follow published guidelines.
