Rub in the butter and then add the milk a little at a time . The mixture should be soft but firm, not sticky. Lift it onto a floured surface and pat it into a circle about 2 cm thick. Cut it into small circles with the top of a small glass. Put themonto a greased tin, brush them with milk or some beaten egg, and bake them in a very hot oven (220ºC)for about 10 minutes. Split them open while still hot, spread them with butter , and eat immediately.
