  8. Egypt • The Nile river is the largest river • The ancient land was ounce called lower Egypt it lies at the mouth of the river • The Nile river cuts across the arid, or dry, desserts known as the Sahara

  9. Greece • Crete is a long, narrow island with rugged mountains and flat plains. • It lied about 60 miles going southeast of Greece in mainland • Beyond the palace were houses, small villages, and farms
