Brief History of the Permanent ccTLD Secretariat • Asia Pacific Joint Secretariat (www.apsec.org) has submitted the proposal for the Permanent ccTLD Secretariat on 31 Jan., 2001 • The proposal has been presented in the ccTLD meeting in Melbourn on 9 Mar., 2001 • Submitted the revised proposal to the ccTLD Constituency on 21 March, 2001 • Permanent ccTLD Secretariat has been approved by ccTLD member’s voting on April 2001 and confirmed by ccTLD AdCom on 4 May 2001. • Finally approved in the ccTLD meeting in Stockholm on 31 May, 2001 with 2 years term. • Transferred the ccTLD web and mail servers from Paris to Seoul on June, 2001

  3. ccTLD Secretariat Staffs and Office • Staffs - Executive Director: Byung-Kyu Kim (fully supported by KRNIC) - Deputy Executive Director: Abhisak Chulya (hired by ccTLD sec) - Administration Staff: Seung-Yeon Yoo (hired by ccTLD sec) • Main Office located in Seoul (fully supported by KRNIC)

  4. ccTLD Meetings (FY2001) • 4 ccTLD Member Meetings - Stockholm (May 2001) Online voting for ccSO Formation Final approval for the ccTLD Secretariat - Montevideo (Sep 2001) Remote online meeting system, Terror Attack on WTC - Marina del Ray (Nov 2001): 45 members (8 proxies) Security and Stability of the Internet Tracking IANA DataBase, ccSO liaison officers - Accra (Mar 2002): 82 members (46 proxies) ICANN Reform, voting for ccSO and Incorporation, extended ccSO liaision officers, ccSO legal WG • AdCom Teleconferences (about once a month)

  5. ccTLD Websites and Mailing Lists • Websites: www.wwtld.org, www.cc-so.org • Mailing Lists: cctld-discuss@wwtld.org, ccso-discuss@wwtld.org cctld-adcom, cctld-contacts, cctld-sec, cctld-tech, cctld-lex, tracking-iana, ccso-liaison, wg-legal..etc. • Domain Names: wwtld.org, cctldso.org(.net), cc-so.org(.net) cnso.org

  6. Outreach Activities • Africa: Accra, Ghana on March, 2001 • Asia Pacific: with Asia Pacific Outreach APTLD Outreach WG APNIC Training APRICOT Fellowship Program • Ready to work with other regional group

Budget Status • Income (total: US $ 124,845) - donation by members: US $60,172 - sponsors for meetings: US $54,037 - donation at the gate: US $9,840 - Interim ccTLD Sec: US $670 - Bank interest: US $125 • Expenses (total: US $ 101,043) - staff salary: US $39,056 - meeting expenses: US $53,550 - equipments: US $4,600 - DNSO contributions via ccTLD secretariat: US $3,000 - ICANN contributions via ccTLD secretariat: US $470 - Bank fee: US $367

  8. Plan for FY2002-2003 • Need New Contributions from ccTLD members - contribution from ccTLD members: ccTLD secretariat - contribution from Sponsors: ccTLD meeting expenses • Transition Period from ccTLD Constituency to ccTLD Supporting Organization - successful transition to ccTLD organization • Outreach and Training Activity for ccTLD Name Server Operation - need more travel expenses, invite speakers, ..etc. - currently work with regional organizations
