New Free Electives/General EducationCourses for Academic Year 07-08 Self- Management Communication Skills Time Management 2nd Term (as Free Elective or Business Elective Course) MGT251 Effective Management This course prepares students with a comprehensive introduction to effective management principles and conduct: time and personal management, crisis management, skills in decision making, leadership, and interpersonal communication.

New Free Electives/General EducationCourses for Academic Year 07-08 用人之長 因人致用 2nd Term (as Non-BBA Electives or Free Electives) MGT252/GEC352 Traditional Chinese Thoughts and Management This course provides the concepts and principles of traditional Chinese thought: Confucian Analects (論語), the Art of war (孫子兵法), and the Book of Changes (易經) that influence management practices, and helps students understand their implications for cross-cultural management issues.

New Free Electives/General EducationCourses for Academic Year 07-08 平等機會 2nd Term (as Non-BBA Electives or Free Electives) MGT253/GEB253 Corporate Social Responsibility This course examines responsibilities of companies from the stakeholder perspectives: harmful additives in food; the slimming industries; resource depletion; pollution; child labour; and employee health and safety.   16. SUPPORTING SPECIALISATIONMINOR PROGRAMME

  17. SUPPORTING SPECIALISATION In addition to the stream courses, BBA students can make use of 12 free elective credits to take a Supporting Specialisation in a business area other than their stream of study in order to enrich their business knowledge.

  18. Business students who take a Supporting Specialisation will need to take an additional 6 credits (or 2 courses) of free electives and will graduate with 96 credits, subject to their possession of credit transfer. • Students are required to declare their Supporting Specialisation to the Business Programmes Office by the end of the add/drop period in the first term of their final year of study. • Please refer to University Calendar p.156-9 for further details.

  19. MINOR PROGRAMME In addition to a Major Programme, a student may register for one Minor Programme. • The registration for a Minor Programme should be done by the end of the add/drop period in the first term of the final year of study. • A Student may use the credits assigned for free electives in the curriculum of his/her registered programme of study to take courses leading to a Minor Programme. • Please refer to University Calendar p.176-193 for further details.

Student Enhancement Programme (SEP) Objectives: • To identify a group of high quality students • To facilitate their development and broaden their horizon by providing opportunities to attend seminars and conferences • To expose them to challenges in a competitive and/or business context • To provide them with on-going mentoring and coaching as necessary

English Upgrade Project (EUP) • Help students improve English communication skills • Raise students’ confidence and interest in speaking English • 1st Programme: English for Fun • Date: Thursday, 13 September 07 • Time: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. • Venue: Room BU312 • Other Programmes: English newspaper, Toastmaster, English improvement course, etc.
