  2. Part 1: Flip-Stick Construction • Describe the flipper system. Why is it called a system? • The flipper system is a flipper base, flipper stick, cork, and craft stick all working together.

Part 2: Flip Out • What variables might affect the distance a ball will fly? • Some variables that might affect the distance a ball will fly could be the mass of the ball, size of the ball, angle of launch, length of flip stick, how far the stick is pressed down, and the position of the ball on the stick. • What is the relationship between the mass of the foil ball and the distance it flies? • The lighter the ball, the farther it will fly.

  4. Part 3: Controlled Experiments • Why do scientists conduct multiple trials of the same variable? • Multiple trials improve the accuracy of experimental results.
