Science Olympiad MeetingREGIONAL COMPETION DATE3 / 24 / 2012 Dates to Remember: • Barrett Saturday Practice – 8:30 – 11:30 Feb. 18th ( Room 18 ) • Field Trip March 22th 9:00 am – 2:15 pm • We will need drivers for the 22nd field trip  • Event Box Prep. – March 22nd 2:30 - ? ( Competitors and Parents needed ) • After School Practice – March 22nd - May go Late • Arrive at Sac. State at 6:15 am March 24th

  2. Preparations for Competition on March 24th • Binders and study guides completed. • All building events must be labeled with the name BARRETT 6. • All building events must be measured for accuracy or they will be disqualified. • Know what materials can be brought into your events.

  3. Must have Items for March 24th • Watch without a calculator • Goggles if the event specifies • Closed toed shoes • Barrett Uniform • Chemistry Events – Pants and Lab coats • Hair pulled back for chemistry events • Own Calculator if event allows programming • Personal Binders or study guides for events • Prepared event box

  4. Science Olympiad Uniform • Cost = $ 30.00 ( please see flyer ) • Competitors must wear one to compete and enter competition rooms

  5. Specialty Items for the day of Competition • Lawn Chairs – For Awards Ceremony • Blankets – For Awards Ceremony • Special Snacks / Lunch for Child • Something to do for 6 hours while kids are competing

  7. How you can Help  1.Review concepts with your kids / Read over event guides with them. 2. Quiz them on their event topics. 3. Make sure they are organized. 4. Drive on the 22nd field trip. 4. Come after school on March 22nd to prep event boxes. 5. Pick - up event boxes on the 22nd or 23rd to take to Sac. State on Saturday the 24th at 6:30 am. 6. Bring food / snacks for the team on the 24th.

  8. Competitive Team The 15 member Competitive Team and Shadow members will be posted on Monday on Mrs. Irvine and Mrs. Book’s Windows.

  9. State CompetitionAPRIL 14TH 2012 Location: College of the Sequoias 9155 Mooney Blvd. Visalia, Ca 93277 Travel Day: April 13th and spending the night at designated hotel. Leaving School at 9:00 am ( we will have an itinerary ) Material Transport Team: We will need parents to help prep and transport event materials and boxes to the competition Hotel and Cost: See flyer for hotel block reservation. Cost of Trip will be approximately $ 300.00 ( hotel, gas, food )
