  3. LCC: Original proposal Set up a Local Consultative Committee in each case study area • Aims-content (1). The LCC will aim to bring together local residents, voluntary groups, entrepreneurs, other local actors and planners. RELATION TO EXISTING STRUCTURES? • Comparison of cases which are studied for the PICT-project. This enables us to compare different cases in their extent, duration, frame, etc. = basic setting

LCC: BXL Set up a Local Consultative Committee in each case study area (basic setting known from BXL special day) • local residents: from the Local Commission of Integrated Development, but potentially all inhabitants invited from a neighbourhood • voluntary groups: neighbourhood associations, limit limit, JST, RISO but also umbrella organisations like BRAL and IEB, • entrepreneurs: through the LCDI, • other local actors: administration and authorities(both municipal and regional level), mayor, aldermen, spatial planning experts from the administration, • planners: planners in private study offices, intermediary of ‘Renovas’(non-profit organisation) and planning officials in administrations • RESEARCH = one of the players

LCC: Original proposal Set up a Local Consultative Committee in each case study area • Aims-content (2) The remit of the LCC will be to advice the project team on planning, preparation and implementation of the project; to involve the local community in the project as much as possible; to maximise the benefit brought to the local community by the project; to facilitate the training process; and to co-ordinate the resources provided by the project to enhance public participation.

LCC: BXL Set up a Local Consultative Committee in each case study area (basic setting known from BXL special day) to advice planningpreparation and implementation of the project: from basic study, design phase to implementation to involve the local community in the project as much as possible, to maximise the benefit brought to the local community by the project, to co-ordinate the resources provided by the project to enhance public participation different attraction to get involved, better understanding and easier interaction to facilitate the training process: learning by doing, interactive development of tools .

  7. LCC: Original proposal Set up a Local Consultative Committee in each case study area • Timetable. This task will start at the seventh month of the project, after the review of public participation theory and practice is almost complete and will last until the end of the project, to oversee the trial run of the training package and contribute to the dissemination of the project results. LCC: Original proposal Expected outcomes/results. the establishment and operation of a new, voluntary body, to monitor and facilitate the project activities, especially on participation issues and learning for participation. The results of this task will include more effective mediation between architects/planners and their clients, more widespread participation in learning activities among the general public and the facilitation of a new participatory ethos among both architects/planners and the citizens-users of their plans.
