  7. W-Course Opportunity • Students in the Undergraduate Research Scholars & Teams Program • Optional thesis writing course – UGST 491W • Requires “Request for Approval of W- and C-Courses Outside the Major”

Travel Grants & SPUR Grants • Undergraduate Research Travel Grants • Application deadline Sept. 30, 2012 & • Jan. 2013 • Primary author & presenting • Up to $500 for specific costs • Summer Program for Undergraduate • Research (SPUR) Grants • Spring Application • Faculty Peer Review • ~$2000/program

  9. Explorations: The Undergraduate Journal • Opportunity for any student to publish research and/or creative work: • Research • Art/Photography • Poetry & Prose • Call for Student Board Members, deadline Sept. 30

  10. Honors Application • Incoming freshmen apply through HUR website August 1 – December 1 • Transfer students apply as continuing students each spring semester • Continuing students may apply up through 60 hours complete at TAMU. • Notification in March 2013

Application Process • Link from ApplyTexas to University Honors Program website: http://honors.tamu.edu/ProspectiveStudents.html • Log on to University Honors Program application using NetID • 25 multiple choice questions, 2 essays • Must sign Housing Contract & pay deposit by Feb. 1 for application to be complete

  12. Selection for Honors • Holistic review • Academic preparation • Vision, passion, commitment, risk-taking, curiosity, self-awareness, creativity • Designated as “Honors Students” • Required to stay in Honors Freshman Housing, participate in Honors Freshman Learning Community • Class size 400+

  13. University Honors Students Must: • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPR & a 3.25 GPR in Honors course work • Make progress toward curriculum requirements by taking at least six Honors credits per year. • Meet minimum co-curricular participation requirements. • Make an annual update to their Honors E-Portfolio.

  14. Honors Student Council • Helps students get involved in the Honors Community • Advertises Honors opportunity to the campus • Represents student concerns to Honors and Undergraduate Research.

  15. University Scholars • Finish first semester with a 3.5+ GPR • Apply by March 2013 • $2000/yr scholarship • Enrichment seminars • Honors Ambassadors • Peer Leadership Selection is also acceptance to the University Honors Program

  16. Honors Fellows • 30 hours of honors credit at TAMU (no AP or IB) • - 9 in Core Curriculum • - 12 in 300/400 level • Complete a Capstone experience (choose one): • - Undergraduate Research Scholars • - Undergraduate Teacher Scholars • - Departmental Capstone

  19. National Fellowships • Graduate Fulbright Coordinated by OGS in collaboration with HUR • Seeking faculty who have experience with National Fellowship selection or have been awarded a fellowship to share the experience with students and for selection committees
