  2. Static Characters • A static character is one who remains basically unchanged throughout a work • Much like static on a T.V. set will stay the same

  3. Static Characters • For example: • Jacob from “The Hitchhiker” • Bob from “Night Drive” • Charles Falcon from “The Elevator” • The Man in the Yellow Suit from Tuck Everlasting • All he cares about is finding the spring

  4. Dynamic Characters • A dynamic character undergoes a permanent change during a story • Much like dynamite will cause something to change by explosion

  5. For example: • Jack Beagle from “The Elevator” • Winnie Foster from Tuck Everlasting • At first she wants to escape her life; she is sheltered and afraid. When she returns home she is much more independent than when she left.
