  1. The SculptureEli’s “Quay” Experience Pamela Murrell & Eli

  2. Eli was amazed at the clay collection.

  3. There were little clay pigs, clay kittens, clay snowflake bowls, clay hearts and clay stars. There was even a clay…

  4. Iguana!

  5. Eli couldn’t wait to get started. He quickly sat down at the table with a big chunk of clay. He wrapped both hands around it, squeezed really hard, until the clay oozed between all of his fingers. Eli smiled. Squish!

  6. He decided he would make his own “sculpture”. His task began…he rolled the clay into small circles before rolling it out to make little “arms.”

  7. Eli uses the fork to add a few details to his “sculpture”.

  8. With a little water, a touch of one finger, and his tongue… out just enough to show skill… Eli smooth out the lumps in his clay.

  9. Eli then adds the final piece to his, “sculpture”.

  10. What it Means It was a thrill to watch you work, Eli. You were so excited to finally get your hands on the,”quay”, as you call it. I watched you roll, knead, pound and sculpt that clay into everything you wanted it to be.
