GCSE History • WHAT? • Component 2 – • Shaping the nation (50% of GCSE) • Britain: Health and Medicine (Black Death, Barber surgeons, The Great Plague, Revolution in Surgery, Medicine during WWI, AIDS ) • Norman England, 1066-1100 • (Battle of Hastings, Feudal System, Castles and other ways in which the Normans controlled England) • WHAT? • Component 1 – Understanding the Modern World (50% of GCSE) • The USA, 1920-1973 • (‘Roaring 20s, Prohibition and Gangsters, The Depression, The Civil Rights Movement and the reaction to war in Vietnam) • 2. Conflict and tension, 1918-1939 (The end of WWI, The Treaty of Versailles, The League of Nations, Hitler’s foreign policy and outbreak of WWII) • Regular assessments • (after each topic you will sit a mock exam ) • 2. External exams • (2 exams at the end of Y11 on both components – both 1h 45mins) How will I be assessed?
