THE BROADER CONTEXTOF OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT • The Global knowledge-based economy is both market and knowledge driven creating a new generation of knowledge workers (next slide) • Conventional teacher-based and text-book centered approach to learning cements curriculum over-load leading to passive learning on the part of students • The new learning environment implies a paradigm shift requiring a new focus, i.e. to actualize THE CAPACITY OF LEARNING of students………..

THE BROADER CONTEXT………… … THE PREMIUM WILL BE ON : * CRITICAL THINKING * CRITICAL ASESSMENT AND RESPONSES * CONTINOUS LEARNING RBTL INVOLVES : • not only the ability to assimilate new knowledge but also collective moral and ethical judgments that ring true for the community • it involves social learning : the ability to devise and build confidence in new ways to function as effective contributors within the changing parameters of our time

THEAPPROACH THE BROADERTHE PREMIUM WILL BE ON : CONTEXT……… • Students are continuously encouraged and led to study the essence of the subject-matter through interconnected activities : dialogues, supervised library research, investigations and experiments in labs and field-work students need to adopt the appropriate and standard methodology for research and experiments, scientific reporting
