    1. The Systems Approach for the Next Generation of Mishap Prevention Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the Department of Defense Voluntary Protection Programs Center of Excellence Basic Trend Analysis for VPP Webinar. Please remember, throughout this presentation, that each service is required to have in place an established safety & health management system that is supposed to meet it’s minimum requirements. VPP recognition, however, is for those sites that go above and beyond the minimum requirements. This topic presents information on one of the ways that will help you come into compliance with existing requirements, improve your existing safety system, and/or go above and beyond minimum requirements. Finally, before we actually get started, I’d like to explain the reason for the simplicity of this presentation. Over the past several years of visiting hundreds of DoD/Fed agency sites trend analysis is still a big issue. The CX has developed and presented other Trend Analysis webinars/presentations/tools go into great detail describing types of chart and discussed leading and lagging indicators, etc., but the consensus from sites we still go to is why do we need to do this and what will we get out of it.
