  3. Cpted team • 1. Who will take the lead in organizing the team? • 2. How will team members be selected? • 3. Who will be on the team? • 4. What will be expected from team members? • 5. How will the team organize itself? • 6. What authority will the team have? • 7. What will the team cost?

  4. Cpted initiative • 1. Scope of the initiative - community wide or particular • neighborhoods? • 2. Who will be needed to plan and implement the initiative? • 3. What issues will work in your favor? • 4. What obstacles are you likely to encounter? • 5. What resources will be needed and are available? • 6. Who can provide help or technical assistance? • 7. Will changes in state or local law, regulation or policy be needed?

  5. Leverage • 1. Does it involve law, regulation or policy - federal, state, local or private? • 2. Who are the key players - who has the authority? • 3. How easily can changes be made? • 4. How long will it take to make changes? • 5. What will the changes cost?

  6. Implementing cpted • Create a small team of persons who are knowledgeable and enthused about their respective fields. • Provide CPTED training. • Require a CPTED review as a condition of redevelopment. • Ask the developer or business owner to respond to the CPTED recommendations but do not require a response.

  7. Implementing cpted • Require the signatures of a trained planner or building official and a crime prevention officer on each review. • Enlist creative design from the design field for specific solutions. • Educate decision makers and politicians.
