  2. GHG Mexican Pilot Program On August 25 2004, the SEMARNAT entered into an agreement with WRI and WBCSD to establish a voluntary GHG Program in Mexico based on: GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.GHG Protocol Project Accounting Standards and Guidelines.

  3. Objectives: • Prepare GHG inventories to assess business GHG risks and opportunities. • Identify and initiate GHG mitigation projects (CDM and other trading schemes). • Quantify GHG emissions reduction co-benefits. • Inform future national climate strategies. • Achieve sustainable development.

  4. Functions of the Mexico Program The program will provide a reporting platform for Mexican business participants to account and register their GHG emissions thru: • Establishment of the Program Advisory Committee. • Plans and goals. • Inviting and informing companies • Education and training workshops. • Guidelines, tools and technical assistance on corporate inventories and GHG projects. • Reporting of GHG emissions (database that will be hosted by SEMARNAT).
