Campus Network • ~100 academic/administrative buildings • ~50 dormitories, eating clubs, apartments • ~26,000 registered devices, 35% Dormnet • Backbone trunk - 48 single mode and 48 multi-mode fibers • Hubsite to building - 16 single mode and 16 multi-mode fibers • Conduit system, sub-ducted for future expansion, remove old CATV

  3. Campus Network • Desktop Cat 5+, single and multi-mode fiber • Full 802.11g coverage by end of 2007 • Dark fiber provides on-campus - Sunesys and TelCove (Level 3) • Service providers on-campus – Verizon, Patriot Media, AT&T, US LEC (Paetec)

  4. Campus Network • Two Class B IPV4 address ranges • Multiple Internet ISPs plus Internet2 • On-campus only network - PPNnet • Support for native IPV6 via Internet2 • Nortel telephone switch, copper plant,limited VOIP • Campus wide CATV over fiber

Campus Network • Dark fiber to Forrestal (two pair) • No dark fiber to Philly, only services • Internet bypass with Patriot Media • Current 500Mbs I1 and I2 on gigabit pipes • Core switches capable of 10Gbs • Can provide multiple gigabit links to buildings • Possible ESnet for PPPL, no NLR connection planned
