Scope of DoDMaintenance DoDspending(Total = $587 billion) • 13% of DOD budget is spent on maintenance • Large portion is spent on replacement of damaged parts • Budgets are shrinking in the future • Need fundamental change in the way we do maintenance • Joint Requirements • Seek step improvements in reducing costs

JTEG Objectives • Sharing of Maintenance Technology Information • Create a community-wide consciousness on Maintenance technology • Collaboration within DoD and Industry • Work together to develop and transition Maintenance technology • Leverage each others’ capabilities/resources • Coalesce around common requirements • Distribute the workload

JTEG Communication Venues • Monthly JTEG Community Focused Technology Forums • Creating strategic partnerships • Service programs and newsletters • Maintenance / Logistics Conferences such as the CTMA Partners Meeting & CSAT Meeting • JTEG Website • CTMA Venues – CTMA Connector • JGDM Briefings Submit a Project Idea http://jteg.ncms.org/

  5. Work Groups Purpose:To leverage the assembled experience and knowledge to brainstorm ideas and develop working plans to accomplish each workgroup’s objectives. Body of Knowledge: Develop a plan of action and timeline to establish a database where information and data on new and existing cold spray repair technology developments can be organized, posted, and accessed. Process Qualification, Certification, Specifications, and Standards: This group will discuss what currently exists, and what gaps need to be addressed. Cold Spray Equipment: Identify cold spray system performance criteria and the different cold spray systems in use and their respective capabilities.

Body of KnowledgeWork Group Objective: Develop a plan of action and timeline to establish an online database where information and data on new and existing cold spray repair technology developments can be organized, posted, and accessed. Discussion & Formation of future WIPT: 90 minutes • Outline key tenets of WIPT charter Outbrief: 15 minutes

The group will also identify the information sources available to provide an educational awareness on each of these systems. Discussion & Formation of future WIPT: 90 minutes • Outline key tenets of WIPT charter Outbrief: 15 minutes

Takeaways • It’s time to take cold spray to the next level! • Mature the conversation – think strategically & act tactically • We can no longer afford to work in a fragmented fashion • We must lead the rapid adoption of this proven capability • Focus on REAPING near term benefits to fuel the expansion – structural / coatings etc. / Near Net Shape Additive Mfg Partner – Be Part of the Solution
