EC’sanswer: «YouthEmployment Initiative»Strasbourg, 12.3.2013, COM(2013) 144 final • YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PACKAGES • COM(2012) 727 final • smooth the transition between school and work through youth guarantee schemes • ensure that traineeships offer high-quality work experience under safe conditions; • improve the quality and supply of apprenticeships; • give young people more opportunities to work and train abroad. • YOUTH GUARANTEE • COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION (2013/C 120/01) • Young people receive a good-quality offer of employment, continued education, an apprenticeship or a traineeship within a period of four months of becoming unemployed or leaving formal education • Youth Guarantee would contribute to three of the ‘Europe 2020’ strategy targets: • 75 % of the age range 20-64 should be employed; • early school-leaving rates should be below 10 %; • at least 20 million people should be lifted out of poverty and social exclusion. • APPRENTICESHIP ALLIANCE • http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-13-634_en.htm • Three strands of action: • reform of apprenticeship systems; • benefits of apprenticeships; • funding and resources.
